Dobrinka, Russia, the mother colony, was the first village in the area, founded on 29 June 1764. Over the next three years, 353 Lutherans from several countries settled in the village, and are shown as the original settlers. The first arrivals included 6 families that had previously moved to Denmark in 1762. The remaining 7 families arrived directly from Germany. One family arrived on 24 November 1764. In 1765, 31 families arrived on 15 April 1765, and 10 more families on 4 other dates in 1765. In 1766, 5 families arrived, and on 20 June 1767 an additional 29 families arrived.

Dobrinka is located on the 'Bergseite" (hilly side) or west bank of the Volga River, south-southwest of Saratov. Maps in the Resources section will show you where this region is located.
